Interceptions do Bucs in…again

December 7th, 2009 | by Thomas Gemkow |

I thought Tampa Bay had a chance at pulling off their second victory this week.

Once again, I was left disappointed.

Down 16-6, the Bucs got the ball with a little more than three minutes on the clock.  Josh Freeman was leading his team towards the end zone through a series of short passes over the middle. After reaching the red zone with a clutch fourth down pass to Maurice Stovall, Freeman threw what would be his fifth interception of the day.

While Freeman lead the offense to a season high 469 yards of offense–321 of which were through the air–his best performance so far this season was overshadowed by the five interceptions he threw.

“Ill be over it by tomorrow afternoon.” Freeman said after the game.  “I’m going to obviously go through the game and look at everything, find out the reason why we didn’t win the game. Its blatantly obvious that we were inside their 30 yard line eight times and came away with six points the entire game. That’s completely unacceptable. Its going to be finding a way to get back to the red zone offense that we were the previous three or four games.”

The Bucs, despite their losses have been looking progressively better each week. Cadillac Williams rushed for 92 yards, and Antonio Bryant was healthy again this week, snagging 5 Freeman passes for 116 yards.

The Bucs also seem to have found a solution to the problem with their kicker this year. Connor Barth hit field goals for the Bucs–but he also missed two.

With the loss, the Bucs fell to 1-11 on the season.
